what to expect from your first massage
When you arrive
At your first appointment, your practitioner will discuss any particular areas or problems you would like to have worked on during your massage. We will ask some simple screening questions about your health to help us give you a safe and comfortable massage. If you have old or current injuries, or any conditions your practitioner should be careful with (or perhaps not massage at all), be sure to let your practitioner know.
Clothing Optional
Your practitioner will leave the room so that you can undress. You will be covered with a sheet for the entire session, except for the area being worked on. Many people do not wear any clothing during the massage, others leave underwear on, but this is up to each individual's comfort level.
Getting Started
Once you are settled on the table, your practitioner will ensure that you are comfortable and warm enough. During your massage, let your practitioner know if you are uncomfortable in any way:
- if the massage pressure is too hard or not hard enough
- if it tickles
- or if something just doesn't fee right
We want you to be at ease, and we depend on your feedback to give you the best massage possible.
During the Massage
Remember to relax during your massage. Don't feel obligated to chat. Being quiet is usually more relaxing. The focus is on you and your relaxation, and it's perfectly fine to be quiet.
After the Massage
At the completion of your massage, your practitioner will let you know that your massage is over and that they are leaving the room. You will be in a deeply relaxed state, so be careful when you get off the massage table.
